ltd 2019 repress ... after a string of well received releases on the likes of 22a and alexander nut’s hotep, henry wu steps forth with his most bold statement to date with ‘good morning peckham’ on the rhythm section international imprint. arguably one of the most hotly-tipped producers in the uk right now, wu’s broken compositions and deep jazzy keys have earned him plaudits from scene veterans as well as peers, all keen to see what henry will do next. with a refreshing take on rhythm and a virtuosic musicality born out of years of recording and touring as a session player, henry wu represents a brightly shining light in the already glowing london community. equally adept on the keyboard as he is on the mpc, on good morning peckham, we are also given a further insight into the mind of wu as he takes to the mic - toasting along to the soon-to-be-classic ‘ croydon depot’ and spitting on the intro to the broken beat inspired ‘neezy’. a south east londoner born and bred, henry’s debut on rhythm section has been a long time coming and it seems that it was worth the wait as henry presents 6 tracks of white hot intention. henry wu is a name that we are going to hear a lot more of in the future….
live-in-the-studio versions of maxïmo park fan favourites, spanning all of their 6 albums. the vinyl release includes a download code for the full album and exclusive bonus tracks.
2019 repress - this year kevin saunderson, ann saunderson and paris grey, collectively known as the legendary band inner city, release >future<, their first entirely new material since parting company in 2001, written and produced in collaboration with another detroit legend, namely kenny larkin. the track marks a welcome return for a group that combined the tough, futuristic grooves of the detroit scene with the vocal energy of r&b and gospel and helped to define the period in which house and techno moved from underground phenomena to top 10 material, paving the way for hundreds of dance hits to come. >future< is devastatingly catchy and highly emotional, exhibiting all the soulful flavours and qualities you would expect from these celebrated producers and singers. masterfully re-edited by carl craig this track ascends to a higher place whilst kenny larkin is on remix duties, beautifully reworking the original into a techno infused monster with intoxicating staccato vocals.
look like makes his debut on clone royal oak with a great four track ep! a fresh take on classic house music. italo house, balearic beat, chicagos stomp and detroits funk all stirred up into a nice loose hybrid that seems to become look likes signature sound. lovely stuff!! if you havent heard from him just yet... also check out his cool releases on dvs1s misstress label and drum poet society!
the purest garage label in operation right now, plastik people fire off a crucial double a side here featuring two underground operators that know how to keep garage sounding fresh as a daisy. herb rhythm is up first, and he s got the todd edwards style of snappy micro sampling and mk s sassy midi sax down to a t people!- is a joyous, bouncing jam impossible to stay still to. on the flip, keepin soul take things deeper with some sweet piano chords and a wandering bassline, but once again this is all about true school garage for the heads.
the mysterious wilson phoenix returns with another batch of muscular techno joints that ll wipe the floor with any half-hearted 4/4 pretenders. considering how sought after his earlier releases are, don t expect this to hang around for long. the beastly 909 kicks on -dorphin- would slot in perfectly with head front panel s own blown out take on peak time rabble rousing techno, while the kick-clap sync on dexed will get fists a-shaking. it s not all blunt drums though - there s plenty of peppy colour splashed all over this record to make it stand out from the crowd. this ain t no monochrome chugging business!
neither scratcha dva, nor any of the tracks on this release, really need an introduction. grime fans will instantly recognise these legendary tunes from radio, raves and mixtapes.

repress 2019 - “just do you” is the first single from underground super-producer lord echo s hotly anticipated 3rd album “harmonies”. so long has it s gestation been that it has reached a status reserved only for the mythical and the absurd. some say it will never be finished with the album devouring its host creator and assuming a life of its own - but this first single proves other wise.
lord echo emerges from the darkness with a gleaming diamond in his hand - a slice of pure disco dub indulgence with all the rough trimmings that have made him a cult favourite from tokyo to trinidad.
a fireball to accelerate our post-winter thawing. spanish producer pepes first foray on lph. it starts off unassumingly, with a bright, airy beach boogie thats all gentle drums and trebly synth figurations, but it quickly turns its eye to the strobe-lit nightclub, first with delusions of grandeur, an angular hypnosis of syncopated rhythms, then with aerial, a 130 bpm blitz with an epic build and an equally dramatic breakdown. capping it off is 50 am, which, as the name indicates, is a woozy shuffle thatll help you land the plane nice and easy.
already support from all corners for this package from: ame, andrew weatherall, red axes, dusky chloe, red rackem, justin cudmore, chrissy, horsemeat disco
next slamming disco! everyone has to deal with night cravings, but the way you handle them makes all the difference. beam me up (cyclist & the patchouli brothers) invites you all to indulge your senses with three tracks that all reveal the same quiet intent and zeal for detail rich, full of texture and luscious.
the original jazz dance classic is finally re-pressed once again on a beautiful 7inch and with the original label artwork. this cover of pharoah sanders original anthem was one of the biggest records when it was released back in 2002 and was played all across the globe by everyone from gilles peterson to united future organization. proper jap-jazz but recorded in sweden and produced by no other than mad mats himself!
after his previous banger love saves the day got hands in the air on dance floors all over the world, well, it turns out that casbah 73 was just warming up.
this is an album by vocalist mayumi sonoda—a jazz vocalist who looked up to chris connor and made her debut at a us army camp at the age of 16—that was recorded with the help of kichiro sugino’s trio.
todd osborn returns to spectral sound in his osborne guise with his first release on on the label since 2013 s hold up (feat. joe goddard). fools finds osborn in his best self, as a shapeshifter bringing together strands of various genres. the title track is a lesson in house reduction, while -different- is a chunk of bassline-led techno. on the b-side, -back whenever- kicks off in proto-idm electro form, all melody and light, and -integrate- slows it down to a walking pace for a dash of synth funk.

after getting a hot cast of remixers (vril, sterac, lewis fautzi...) to reinterpret his debut full-length as kaczmarek last year, paul richard (aka paul ritch) gives his second lp k.a.c.z.m.a.r.e.k similar treatment as the talented likes of dutch production duo museum, japanese experimentalist iori, parisian techno stalwart antigone and on-the-rise italian 4/4 epics trader adiel take the reins and add their personal key to the frenchmans deeper-than-deep hypnotic delicacies, all primed for extended drifting on the dance floor and beyond. time to heed the call of the depths.
